CUTTIN O RIBBO NO AC PERIPHERA FRENZ

General Plan

There will be 4 consecutive ribbon cutting events on 3/17/07. One will immediately follow the other beginning at 1:40PM between the Schnitz and Newmark Theatre and then moving to the South Park Blocks directly west of the Schitz and moving from there to the Portland Art Museum. The whole deal should last between 30-60 minutes. Each of the 4 events will have a different director. The director will add her/his own style/approach/pace to the format below (director positions are open).*

Ribbon Cutting Format

The director explains the style/pace of the following steps
1) Set up the ribbon between two stanchions
2) Roll out a red carpet
3) The group stands as if something important is going to happen
4) One member holds a ceremonial scissors in front of the ribbon
5) An “official” announcement is made
6) The group stands as if the important thing just finished (the ribbon is not cut)
7) Pack up supplies and move to the next ceremonial spot
8) Repeat steps 1-7 with a new director*

*If you want to be a director of the event next Sat., please let me know ahead of time. We encourage such behavior. It requires no previous rehearsal. The director’s decisions will be how each step is played out. For example, there are many ways a red carpet could be unrolled, how people stand, what is said during the announcement, etc.

** One announcement example: “Thank you for that good/ thank you everybody/thanks good afternoon everyone/ and welcome to/thanks for taking time to be/ . let me add / pay as you go, pay as you go/ “PLEASED TO DEDICATE/THANKS FOR THE INTRODUCTION/I TOO WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME /I WOULD PARTICULARLY LIKE TO WELCOME/LIKE/ “I would LIKE TO RECOGNIZE LIKE TO RECOGNIZE”
